Racism Against Student in Australia

Racism – the entire world cannot tolerate and unfortunately its repeating again in modern world. Act of racism in Australia against the Indian students has always in the headlines of all the Media in the world currently. It’s really shocking, irritating and no one can accept such act by any human. When students go abroad to achieve a foreign qualification from a better university after taking higher amount of educational loans, if they need to overcome such sort of inhuman racial acts against them it is totally disappoint them as well as for the entire world to watch this. Now it’s the time for the world countries to act together to protest against such countries tolerating racial activities in their land. One and the foremost thing that should understand by these countries are that they receives huge amount of monetary benefit from the fees and they even get good brains that stay back and work for their country. Education-related travel is Australia’s biggest service export to India, valued at $2 billion in 2007/08, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and they must be very careful at least at this scenario as they may lose this in coming future if situations are not changing. This violence has not been made in headlines only in India but also other countries from where students come to Australia for higher education which has cause a threat to the Australia’s $15.5 billion education export market.

Amitabh Bachchan who recently conferred with an honorary Doctorate, he decided to decline the offer to register his strong protest. This shows the unity and love for the great person for his country fellowmen. The Indian Student communities lead a peace rally to show their protest against the recent attack in Australia. Thousands of Indian students gathered outside the Victorian parliament to protest the spate of attacks on them in Australia. The story of racism in Australia was not much known to the people until the recent incidents came to light. We must condemn such incidents and we expect the culprits to be punished severely making sure that such deeds are not repeated.

Even though the attacks against student communities are happening in Australia, it is not that all the Australians are the same. These inhuman acts are by some elements in the society which every society has. We should stand against the elements that do such activities and the higher authorities who tolerate this ignoring their responsibility to take care of the students who come from different countries for higher education. Hopefully the responsible people will take the necessary steps to make sure such incidents don’t repeat and the foreign students are not ill treated.

The rise in Indian student’s interest to prefer Australia for their higher education is because of the visa and admission procedure to Australia is easier than US, even they can apply for work permit after some years.
